Unbox & First Boot
What arrives in the box, how to power on with the POWER button, and charging.
A Complete Build arrives fully assembled — the modules are already joined in the Frame, so there's nothing to put together. Take it out, give it some charge, and power it on.
Charge it first
Plug the included USB-C cable into the Core's USB-C port to charge the battery. The same port is used later for flashing firmware and the serial console. Let it top up before the first long session.
Power on
The Core has a POWER button on its top edge, and if your build has a Power module it has its own button on its edge. Each uses the same gesture — press and hold for about two seconds to switch that module on or off.
The Core can run off USB power alone, so on USB you don't need the Power module — just power on the Core. To run on battery, the Power module has to be on as well, and because it supplies the power, turn it on first and off last.

The Power module's button (left) and the Core's POWER button (third of the four top buttons).
Turn on — on battery, switch the Power module on first, then long-press the Core's POWER until the screen lights up.
Turn off — long-press the Core's POWER to switch it off, then the Power module.
Long-press to toggle power
POWER toggles the device on and off through the hardware power path — firmware can't override it. A quick press, on the other hand, is just a normal button the firmware can use (for sleep, backlight, menus, and so on), depending on what you've flashed.
First boot
What you see on first boot depends on the firmware:
- If the build already has firmware loaded, it boots straight into it.
- If it's blank, the screen may stay dark or show a minimal prompt — that just means it's time to flash your first firmware.
