Getting Started

Flash Your First Firmware

Install firmware with the one-click web flasher at the Attaky Firmware Store.

An Attaky doesn't lock you to one firmware — you choose what it runs and can reflash it any time. The easiest way is the one-click web flasher at the Attaky Firmware Store; no toolchain to install.

Before you start

  • A USB-C cable that carries data (not charge-only), connected to the Core's USB-C port.
  • A supported browser — Chrome or Edge on desktop, which can talk to USB devices.
  • The firmware that matches your hardware. A capability lives on the Expand module, so pick firmware your build can run — for example, Meshtastic needs the LoRa / GPS module. The Firmware pages list what each one needs.

Flash it

Open the Attaky Firmware Store and connect your Attaky over USB-C.

Pick the firmware you want and click flash. When the browser asks which serial port to use, choose the Attaky.

Keep the device connected until it finishes, then it reboots into the new firmware. Head to that firmware's page for first-run setup.

Only flash firmware made for your hardware

Don't unplug while flashing. And flash only firmware built for your exact build — firmware meant for different modules can drive the hardware the wrong way and permanently damage a module or the Core. If you're not sure a firmware matches your hardware, don't flash it.

If it won't connect

If the flasher can't find the device:

  • Try a different USB-C cable — some are charge-only and carry no data.
  • Try another USB port, and close any other program that might be holding the serial port.
  • Use Chrome or Edge on desktop; mobile browsers can't flash.

The USB-to-UART bridge enumerates as a standard serial port, so on most systems no driver is needed.

Advanced

Each firmware's page has a Flash manually section with the raw ESP32-S3 images and esptool flash addresses, if you'd rather use the command line. Start from the Firmware section.
