Firmware

Firmware

Choose, install, or create firmware for your Attaky.

Your Attaky is defined by the firmware on it — flash a different title and the same hardware becomes an off-grid communicator, a retro console, a radio, or a voice assistant. Install an official title from the Attaky Firmware Store, or build an experience around your own idea and module combination.

Build your own firmware

Describe what you want your Attaky to do and use the AI Build Assistant to create a new firmware project, choose a compatible module combination, design a screen interface, prepare a flashable build, and test it on your device. It can also help adapt an existing open-source firmware when the hardware and license are compatible.

Available firmware

Compatibility

Each firmware needs a specific Expand module and matches one Series of Complete Builds:

FirmwareSeriesRequired modules
MeshtasticMeshCore ESP32 + LoRa / GPS
MeshCoreMeshCore ESP32 + LoRa / GPS
Mr.Z AI chatbotAgentCore ESP32 + Media I/O
FM/AM RadioRadioCore ESP32 + FM/AM Radio
Retro-GoRetroCore ESP32 + Media I/O (+ Gamepad)

Same hardware, many roles

A Media I/O build runs both Retro-Go and Mr.Z, and a Mesh build runs both Meshtastic and MeshCore — reflash to switch what your device does.

Match firmware to your hardware

Flash only firmware built for the modules in your build. Firmware made for different hardware can drive the hardware the wrong way and permanently damage a module or the Core — when in doubt, don't flash it. The required modules for each title are listed above.

Install firmware

Open the Attaky Firmware Store in a supported browser, connect over USB-C, pick a title, and flash. New here? Start with Flash Your First Firmware.

Open source

Every official firmware is open source. See Open Source & Licensing for the upstream projects and their licenses.
