Meshtastic
Off-grid LoRa mesh messaging and GPS location sharing — no cell network, no internet.
Meshtastic turns your Attaky into an off-grid communicator. Using the long-range LoRa radio, nearby devices form a self-healing mesh and relay each other's messages — so you can send text and share your GPS location with no cell network, no Wi-Fi, and no internet. Out on a trail, at a festival, or anywhere coverage drops, the mesh keeps you connected.
This firmware supports all Mesh Series Complete Builds.
What you can do with it
- Send encrypted text messages across the mesh
- Share your live GPS position across the mesh — and see everyone on the map in the companion app
- Relay for others — every node extends the network's reach
- Go all day on a charge with normal use, fully off-grid

Install it
Firmware is installed from the Attaky Firmware Store with a one-click web flasher — no toolchain to set up.
Open the Attaky Firmware Store in a supported browser (Chrome or Edge) and connect your Attaky over USB-C.
Pick Meshtastic and click flash. Keep the device connected until it finishes.
The device reboots into Meshtastic. Pair it with the Meshtastic phone app to set your region and start messaging.
Don't unplug while flashing. Make sure you pick the firmware that matches your hardware — Meshtastic needs the LoRa / GPS module.
Flash manually (advanced)
Prefer the command line? The release ships standard ESP32-S3 images:
| File | Role | Flash address |
|---|---|---|
bootloader.bin | Bootloader | 0x0 |
partitions.bin | Partition table | 0x8000 |
boot-app0.bin | OTA boot stub | 0xe000 |
firmware.bin | Application | 0x10000 |
esptool.py --chip esp32s3 write_flash \
0x0 bootloader.bin \
0x8000 partitions.bin \
0xe000 boot-app0.bin \
0x10000 firmware.binAddresses are the ESP32-S3 defaults and may vary with a custom partition table.
First steps
After flashing, get talking:
Install the Meshtastic app on your phone (iOS or Android) and pair with your Attaky over Bluetooth.
Set your region (US, EU, and so on) to match your unit and where you are — it keeps the radio within the local rules for your band.
Send a message on the default channel. Anyone nearby on the same channel and region receives it — directly or relayed through other nodes.
Versions
The Attaky build tracks the upstream release directly — same version number as upstream Meshtastic.

Meshtastic has a deep feature set — channels, encryption, telemetry, and more. For the full user guide, see the official Meshtastic documentation. Regional frequency options for your hardware are on the LoRa / GPS module page.
Known limitations
Meshtastic is a large, fast-moving project, and Attaky hardware support keeps improving with each release. Run into something that doesn't work? See Troubleshooting & FAQ.
