Radio (LoRa)

  • Module: Ra-01SH, packaging a Semtech SX1262 sub-GHz transceiver, connected to the host over SPI.
  • Frequency: 915.0 MHz for the North America units shipping now; 868 MHz (EU / India) and 433 MHz (EU / China) variants are planned. Each radio is tuned for one band.
  • Antenna: dedicated LoRa/RF antenna connection. Never run the radio without its antenna attached — transmitting with no antenna can damage it.
  • Signals: SPI (SCK, MOSI, MISO, NSS) plus RESET, BUSY, and DIO1 — see the connector map under Connectors & power.

GPS (GNSS)

  • Module: ATGM336H-5N31, packaging an AllyStar AT6558 receiver, supporting GPS + BeiDou.
  • Interface: UART at 9600 bps. The module streams NMEA-0183 sentences (GPRMC / GPGGA / GNRMC) to the host; the host can send configuration commands back over the same link.
  • Assist cache: an AT24C32M/TR EEPROM is wired directly to the GNSS module and managed by it, used to cache ephemeris / assist data and shorten time to first fix after a cold start. This EEPROM is not exposed on the host I²C bus and is not addressed by host firmware.
  • Signals: TXD (NMEA out) and RXD (command in) — see the connector map under Connectors & power.

Connectors & power

LoRa / GPS attaches to a Core at the back of the build through the board-to-board (BTB) connector — it has no top, side, or bottom expansion IO.

Back of the module: the 50-pin M-BTB connector, numbered 1 / 25 at the right and 26 / 50 at the left.

Each chip pin lands on a BTB position:
