Expand: FM/AM Radio 1.0
The Expand module that turns a Core into a full FM/AM radio — tune broadcast stations and listen on the speaker or your headphones.
Expand: FM/AM Radio 1.0 is the module that turns a Core into a real radio. It's a full FM/AM receiver: attach it, flash the FM/AM Radio firmware, and your Attaky tunes broadcast stations and plays them back. It anchors the Radio series.

On board
- A full FM/AM radio receiver
- A built-in speaker amplifier for listening out loud
- A headphone amplifier for private listening
- Automatic switching between speaker and headphones — plug in headphones and the speaker goes quiet, all on its own
- A 3.5 mm headphone jack
- A detachable, telescoping radio antenna — SMA Male connector (the module's port is SMA female)
What you do with it
Pair it with a Core, flash the FM/AM Radio firmware, and you have a pocket radio. Tune across the FM and AM bands, hold a station, and listen on the built-in speaker or through headphones. It's the heart of the Radio series — the module that gives that build its whole reason to exist.

Bands & reception
The tuner is a software-defined radio — it samples the signal and demodulates it digitally, for clean audio and accurate tuning across the broadcast bands:
- FM — 65–108 MHz, covering the OIRT (Eastern European), Japanese, European, and US FM bands
- AM — long wave (LW), medium wave (MW), and shortwave (SW)
- FM stereo with RDS / RBDS station text — station name, track info, and more
Reception is analog FM and AM.
How it connects
FM/AM Radio is an Expand module: it attaches at the back of a Core through Attaky's standard connectors, and the Core does the rest. See Frame & Connections for the standard, and Swap a Module when you want to change it out for a different capability.
Good to know
Speaker or headphones — no setting to flip. Plug headphones in and audio switches to them automatically; unplug and it returns to the speaker. The hardware handles the switch, so it just works, no menu and nothing for the firmware to manage.
Reception depends on the antenna and where you are. It's a telescoping antenna — extend it fully for the best reception — with an SMA Male connector that screws onto the module's SMA-female port, so you can detach it or swap in another one. Like any radio, signal strength varies with location and surroundings — near a window or away from interference usually sounds best.
Size — 66 × 46 × 10.5 mm; 220 mm tall with the telescoping antenna retracted. The antenna extends to 752 mm.
