Expand: Media I/O 1.0

The media kit — microSD storage, a microphone, and a speaker. One module that runs both a retro console and a voice assistant; reflash to switch roles.

Expand: Media I/O 1.0 is the media kit for an Attaky. It adds microSD storage, a microphone, and a speaker to your Core — everything needed to load and play, to listen, and to talk back. It's the same module behind two very different builds: flash it with one firmware and it's a retro game console; flash it with another and it's a voice AI assistant. Same hardware, two roles — you switch by reflashing.

The audio interfaces, the storage interface, and the connector map are on the Media I/O datasheet.

On board

  • A microSD card slot for game ROMs, media, and saved data
  • A speaker output for game audio, voice replies, and alerts
  • A bottom-port microphone for voice input

What you do with it

Media I/O is the module that turns a Core into something you load up and listen to. Drop game ROMs or media onto a microSD card, and the speaker and microphone give the device a voice — for game sound, for spoken answers, and for talking to it.

What it becomes depends on the firmware you flash:

  • Flash Retro-Go and it's a handheld retro console — load ROMs from the card and play with sound.
  • Flash Mr.Z AI chatbot and it's a voice assistant — speak to it through the microphone and hear it answer through the speaker.

Both run on this one module. To switch from one to the other, you just reflash — see the firmware you can flash.

How it connects

Media I/O is an Expand module: it attaches at the back of the Core through Attaky's standard connectors, and the Core handles storage and audio across that link. See Frame & Connections for the standard, and Swap a Module when you want to change one.

Good to know

One module, two builds. The Retro console and the Agent voice assistant share this exact hardware — the difference is entirely in the firmware. If you own one, reflashing gives you the other at no extra hardware cost.

Card not included. Bring your own microSD card for ROMs, media, and saves.

Size — 66 × 46 × 8.5 mm.
