Radio Series
FM and AM radio — a color screen, a telescoping antenna, and a built-in speaker, in a couple of different shapes.
The Radio Series is built for FM and AM radio. Every build pairs a color screen with an FM/AM tuner, a built-in speaker, and a telescoping antenna, so you can tune stations and listen on its own — no phone, no streaming. The builds differ in shape: one to carry, one for the desk.
The recipe
Every Radio build is the same combination of modules:
- Core: ESP32 1.0 — the host, with the color screen and Wi-Fi / Bluetooth
- Expand: FM/AM Radio 1.0 — the FM / AM tuner, with a speaker and a telescoping antenna
- Power: Standard Cell 1.0 — the rechargeable battery
What changes from one build to the next is the form factor — handheld or desktop. Pick the shape that fits how you'll listen.
Firmware
The Radio Series is built for FM/AM radio as a capability — the firmware is flashed separately, not fixed at purchase. FM/AM Radio is one firmware you can run, and it supports every Radio Series build. See Firmware for the options and how to flash.
Extend the antenna
Pull out the telescoping antenna for the best reception, especially on weaker stations.
The builds
Radio Pocket 1.0
The handheld — a flat radio with the screen, speaker, and antenna in your hand.
Radio Station 1.0
The desktop — it stands on four legs as an always-on radio for the shelf.
Compare the builds
Both builds share the same Core, FM/AM tuner, speaker, antenna, and battery — they differ in shape and size.
| Build | Form | Dimensions | Weight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Radio Pocket 1.0 | Body 68 × 48 × 32.5; 222.1 retracted; antenna 752 | 138.1 g | Handheld FM/AM listening | |
| Radio Station 1.0 | Station | Body 68 × 64 × 32.5; 238 retracted; antenna 752 | 142.5 g | A desktop radio for the shelf |
Body sizes (mm) are without the antenna; "retracted" is the height with the telescoping antenna collapsed; the antenna extends to 752 mm.
